Happy Valentine's Day to my Valentine!

Back in November of 1992, as I was finishing up my last year of college, I received a call from this guy I had never met.  He told me that he saw me singing in a concert a year earlier and always wanted to meet me.  Talk about confidence!  We were only able to talk a few minutes because I was on my way to church (these were the days before everyone had cell phones), but somehow I knew he would call again.  Sure enough, the very next evening I received a phone call from that very same guy.  We talked every evening for the next month until we finally got to meet!

This guy turned out to be everything I had ever prayed for and everything I didn't know to pray for.  We both knew very early on that there was something different about this relationship, and that marriage was inevitably looming in the future.  Six months after we had our first conversation, we got engaged.  Six months after that, we were married.  This is one decision I have never regretted, and as the years go by I realize just how blessed we are!  Thank you, Jesus, for sending me Sean.  He is perfectly made for me!

This was my evening ritual...get dressed for bed and wait for Sean to call. (Not sure what I'm doing with hot rollers in my hair...ha!) We had only two pay phones in our whole dorm. I made many enemies as I thoughtlessly tied up one of the phones for hours!

Our first date...we met face to face only two days earlier!

Our first Valentine (my friend Sabrina is in the picture with me)...I think he sent 4 dozen roses for 4 months of talking..memory is fading...should have wrote it down.  Not one balloon had "I love you" on it.  I knew that had to be on purpose, so I called the florist and she confirmed that the sender requested that no balloon have those precious and cherished words. That said to me that his guy wasn't one to loosely throw around words.

Our wedding day

Our Honeymoon!!!

I love you, Sean!

I was just a teenager at the time and I remember thinking that your wedding was the most beautiful sophisticated event I had ever been to. I was thrilled when you asked me to help make bows and to serve food at the reception. I also remember thinking how sweet you were to Sissy Ann when she proudly presented you with the tiniest set of screw drivers as a wedding gift. You went on and on about how useful they would be when the screws in your glasses became loose. That was random, but thats what happens when you stroll down memory lane. Happy Valentine's Day to you and your Beautiful Family.
