My good friend, Kelly, over at http://absolutehodgepodge.blogspot.com, always has the best ideas. I try to come up with excuses to go over and visit her just so I can be inspired by her creativity. She shared with me this cool calendar idea that has become one of our favorite daily tools. Removable Velcro pieces and cool hooks and rings make for a nice hands on activity that keeps my children aware of the date and season.
Recently one of my kids, I'll not say who, was mentioning wanting to get with a friend. I suggested that the un-named child call their friend. "Aw, man....it's early. They're still in school!" "No....it's Saturday, remember?" said I. I don't know what this says about our homeschool. Does it mean that we have so much fun that every day feels like Saturday? Yes...that's what it means. I'll not entertain any other options.
These are pictures of our October and November calendars. I mounted all of the pieces on a black poster board and left room at the top so that I could change the heading to correspond with the month and the season.

I was also able to steal the idea of a laminator (which I use A LOT) and a Cricut (which I also use quite often), both of which helped make this project look so nice.
