It took him a while, but eventually the snake made his way up my porch, confident that he would soon be rewarded for his efforts. He was most definitly targeting the nest safely tucked into the eaves of the porch. Martin and I knocked the snake off three times before Sean (my husband) finally made it home to help.

Below are pictures of the brave snake handler with his children.

We had mercy on the poor hungry snake and did not kill him. I had Sean carry it a safe distance away from the house and toss it into the woods.
In an effort to have the longest pictorial blog in history, I shall continue my story. Last year we caught a similar snake, and I very proudly sent photos to my family in Louisiana.

They followed up with this... THE BIG SHOW OFFS!!!!!

Because of this, I decided not to brag about the violent dangers of nature that lurk in my yard. That proved to be a wise decision, because only a couple of days after catching our docile black snake, my sister sent me these photos.

Man! How can I compete with my South Louisiana relatives!

Okay, seriously?!? A disclaimer email to stay away from this blog post would have been appreciated. Now I've got the heebie jeebies. Shoot that thing. Take a hoe to it's scrawny head. Take lessons from the smart folks down in Louisiana...kill it! Oh, and Kristi, PLEASE don't post the cottonmouth. Double heebies.

Good Eating! Just kidding - I'm not sure if I've ate alligator before, but I know for sure I haven't eaten snake! This week Gene ate turtle soup and a turtle egg at a friend's house. GROSS!
By the way the cotton mouth that Otto killed had a rabbit in it's belly! Poor little bunny wabbit!
Oh my word... I didn't realize snakes were able to climb like that... I've never been as freaked out about snakes as I am now... Thanks, hah! And the Alligator is just unfathomable for me so I'm not too concerned, haha! Still crazy though!
